![]() ![]() In November 2000, after considering the idea for some years, I started studying for an MBA. With the benefit of having resigned my previous position and enough money to take a year or so off I eventually decided on the Open Business School and to complete the course in two years instead of the usual three. They offer one of the few business school courses in the UK accredited by AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS for the course and the quality of their teaching, and as I had previously studied with the OU in the 80's I knew I could work with their methods. After successfully completing the MBA I have been working as the CTO for a start-up in the insurance field although delays in achieving finance meant it eventually ceased actively planning to launch. I might be interested in alternative options therefore! My electives were Strategy, Financial Strategy, Marketing in a Complex World, and Creativity, Innovation and Change Why did I take an MBA though? Because I felt that, despite having worked in a range of positions - marketing, technical, sales and management - and having also run my own company for some years, I wanted to improve my understanding of the underlying theory in order to become a better manager.
